As part of the role the Support Worker at our award winning service, The Lodge, you will be supporting up to 3 adults with Autism and learning disabilities. You should have an interest in outdoor activities like companion cycling, swimming and enjoy long walks. The ability to have fun with the people we support is of the utmost importance, to be able to engage with them and their personal interests, ensuring they live a happy and meaningful life where support is based on choices as well as needs.
Key to your success will be your ability to build rapport with the people we support, being adaptable and able to develop good relationships with colleagues in the service. A strong positive attitude is essential for this position, along with a willingness to provide various levels of personal care and support.
The successful candidate will enjoy working in a continuously changing environment where no two days are the same. A pro active approach is important; while previous experience with supporting adults with Autism is desirable it is not essential. You will be supporting the individuals to participate in activities and daily living tasks this will also include managing day to day finances, arranging holidays and supporting people to go shopping.
You will support team members through supervision and peer support, offering guidance and support and demonstrating great practice through role modeling. Working as part of a team, you will work to a person centered support plan and to session plans in a fast paced environment to meet the outcomes and life style choices of the people you support.
Your hours of work will be 37.5 hours on a flexible shift rota – Earlies, evenings, and waking nights (however you may be expected to occasionally work outside of these hours).
