The insurance industry arranges policies that cover everything from cars to houses. Customer service in the insurance industry would be an exciting area as it involves dealing with customer problems or offering them better deals than the competition.

Who can I work for?

The insurance industry covers a wide range of areas including car, mobile phones and employer insurance. Any company that offers insurance has a customer service arm.

Where and when can I work?

Normal working hours are between 9-5:30 Monday to Friday but this can extend into evenings and weekends. Opportunities are available across the country but will probably be more numerous in cities.

What can I earn?

Earnings do depend on your experience but a trainee salary can start at around £11,000.

What are the benefits?

Working in customer service for the insurance industry will always be busy and interesting. You would also be working as part of a team where you can make good friends.

Are there chances of promotion?

Moving up the career ladder does depend on your experience and the size of the firm you work in.

What will I be responsible for?

You will be responsible for resolving customer issues, providing product information, responding to enquiries and keeping records of customer interactions.

Do I need any experience?

Experience of the insurance industry is sought after but the only educational requirements are GCSEs.
