Customer service support offers assistance to helpdesks when there is an influx of calls or a crisis situation. This profession involves working directly with clients to ensure a positive and effective service is provided, even at times of high demand.

Who can I work for?

Large companies with multi products are more likely to have customer service support as more enquiries will be coming their way.

Where and when can I work?

Normal working hours will be between 9-5.30 Monday to Friday, but could mean evening and weekend work if call numbers are particularly high. Opportunities in this area are available all over the UK.

What can I earn?

Earnings depend on the level you are supporting. At helpdesk level you could earn anything between £11-18,000. At a managerial level you could earn anything up to £40,000 depending on your experience.

Are there chances of promotion?

Promotion opportunities do depend on the size of the company you work for. If you wish to progress up the career ladder, the more experience you have the better.

This area involves you supporting the customer service function of a business. This can include answering incoming calls, handling enquires, updating client accounts and admin.

Do I need any experience?

Though no experience is necessarily needed to start a career in this area, education up to at least GCSE level is sort after and a degree is a great asset.

Great communication skills, flexibility and organisation are a must for anyone working in customer service support.
