Where and when can I work?

Account managers typically work 9am to 5.30pm, falling in line with office hours. However, overtime is normally expected during busy periods, and there is as an expectation to attend networking events, where new business could be generated.

What can I earn?

You can expect to earn anything from £18,000 to £70,000 within this role, dependant on experience and the size of the company. Most commonly, salary falls somewhere in between £24,000 and £34,000.

What are the benefits?

As sales are a key part of the role, commission can also be earned.

Are there chances of promotion?

It is possible to progress into the position of account director or brand director and earn considerably more.

What will I be responsible for?

Responsibilities as an account manager can include identifying new clients and liaising with them in order to understand their needs, as well as thinking of ways to find new clients, and dealing with client requests.

Do I need any experience?

Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial, as is a good understanding of the job role and natural enthusiasm for working within a sales and marketing department. Experience of dealing with customers is advantageous, as well as experience in developing useful contacts.

What attributes are needed?

The very best account managers will have a diplomatic manner, a good sense of humour, impressive negotiation skills, and the ability to generate new ideas quickly.
