Solihull is a town in the West Midlands and the town is situated around 9 miles from Birmingham's city centre. Solihull has a population of over 94,000 people. The town of Solihull was founded in medieval times as a market town.
Solihull does not have its own university within the town however there are five universities within a sixteen mile radius of Solihull. There are three universities in Birmingham itself and two in Coventry.
Solihull College also provides students with the option to study various foundation degree courses.
Solihull is well connected with the rest of the UK by road. There are a number of main roads which run through or close by the town such as the A34, A41, M40 and the M42. There are frequent express connections to London from Solihull's railway station and the station also provides easy access to the neighbouring city of Birmingham, which is useful for commuters.
Solihull has a strong retail centre which provides a large number of jobs within the town. The high street in Solihull has been pedestrianised since 1994, which paved the way for Solihull's newest shopping centre Touchwood, which offers shoppers 650,000 square feet of shops, from Apple to John Lewis.
Solihull provides much employment for its residents which include the Birmingham Business Park, which is situated 9 miles east of Birmingham, within the town of Solihull. The business park has over 100 businesses occupying its offices providing a great many jobs in the town. Birmingham International Airport is also conveniently situated to provide large employment to Solihull's residents.
