Eastleigh is a railway town in the county of Hampshire. The town is situated between Southampton and Winchester. The town of Eastleigh is part of the South Hampshire conurbation and is situated on the River Itchen.
The first spitfire aeroplane which was built in Southampton was first flown from Eastleigh Aerodrome. Another point of interest for the town of Eastleigh is that it was once the home of comedian Benny Hill. Eastleigh has its own museum, situated on the High Street which contains much information about the town's local history.
The head office for the popular garden and D.I.Y chain B&Q is situated in the town of Eastleigh, providing many jobs in the area. Other areas of employment within Eastleigh include the retail and administration sectors amongst others.
The swan shopping centre is situated in the heart of Eastleigh and is home to more than 40 retailers including Tesco, Boots, Argos, WHSmith, TK Maxx, Monsoon, NewLook and Next. There are also Many restaurants and Leisure facilities including cinema and bowling.
Eastleigh maintains good transport links with the rest of the UK. Southampton Airport is situated within the town, which provides many employment opportunities to local residents. The town also has its own railway station, providing train services to London in just over an hour, along with many other frequent services around the UK. Eastleigh also has a comprehensive network of buses to its surrounding areas.
